Annual Seed Exchange

Greater DuPage Chapter Event

Date/Time
Date(s) - Sat Oct 17, 2020
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location
The Growing Place (Aurora Location)

(Approximately 1/2 mile north of Ogden Ave. on Montgomery Road)

The annual seed-swap will be held this year at The Growing Place in Aurora. This is a popular event with our members and friends.  Seeds of many natives have been ripening over the past weeks and months, and our members have been busy collecting and packaging them.  We hope many of you have, too.

How the Exchange Works
Collect your own seed and bring it to the Seed Exchange.  You are entitled to take other seeds home with you, up to an amount equal to what you bring.  If you do not have seed to trade, packets of seed can be purchased for a nominal charge.  Last year, we had over 100 species available.  To see some tips on seed collecting and a list of seeds that were available last year, go to our Seed Harvest page.

Schedule
9:30am – 10am: Set-up (Any board members helping should use the Kautz Rd entrance. Park by the white barn.)

10am – 10:30am:  Set-out seeds.  (The front gate will be open. Attendees should use the front parking lot off Montgomery Road. Signs will be posted at The Growing Place on where to go for the Seed Exchange)

10:30am – 12:00pm: Seed “shopping”

Label Those Seeds
This year all seeds should be pre-packaged in sealed envelopes. Please label the seeds you bring.  Include Latin name, common name, description and any other helpful information, such as color of flower, time of bloom, height of plant, best location, etc.  Print copies of our Seed Labels Template to easily label your seeds.

COVID-19 Safety Rules Will Be In Place
Masks MUST be worn and keeping 6′ apart would be appreciated.  Safety is our #1 concern. For that reason, no refreshments will be served, and we are not having an auction this year.

Extras from The Growing Place
Any seed in the TGP North Prairie ( just east of the parking lot) can be picked by anyone who wants to.  Perennials should be 50% off by that time (some natives will still be available.)
