Tips for Native Plant Sales – Pre-order if possible or arrive before scheduled time for best selectionLook up information on specific native plants and locate plant pictures at the Illinois Wildflowers website.  Visit our Easy to Grow Native Plants page for suggestions on what to plant if you are just getting started with native plants. True native species have two names only.  Cultivars have a third name inside apostrophes.

February 1, Thursday – May 1, Wednesday
Online ordering for Sag Moraine Spring 2024 Native Plant Sale
9 different native plant packages will be available for pre-order, featuring designs by Jeremy Ohmes from Wild World Gardens and Keith Sykora from Stellar Natives, designed for a range of sizes and environments. All plants are provided by Midwest Groundcovers in St. Charles, IL and come in one-pint containers. Plant substitutions might be made if plants become unavailable from the grower. Order Early! There are only a limited number of each package available. All packages must be picked up at the Sag Moraine Native Plant Sale at Moraine Valley Community College (9000 College Pkwy, Parking Lot D3, Palos Hills, IL 60465) on June 1, 2024 between 9am and 2pm. No refunds will be given.

March 11, Monday – December 1, Sunday
Online ordering for Lake County Forest Preserves Online Native Plant Sale
Prefer to shop from home and have purchases shipped to your door? Online sales are available through Possibility Place Nursery’s website. Perennial flats require purchases in multiples of 18, in any combination of species. Some perennials are also available in a 1-gallon size. Species available while supplies last. If your desired plant is out of stock, please enter your name and email in the “Notify Me” section to be alerted when the plant is restocked. Trees and shrubs will begin shipping April 1. Forbs and grasses will ship in May. Possibility Place Nursery will notify you when your order ships. You can expect your order to arrive within 10 days of ordering.

Online ordering for West Cook Wild Ones Native Plant Sale
Pick up can be scheduled for June 6th, 7th, and 8th in Maywood at Forest Preserve District of Cook County Central Warehouse, 2199 S. 1st Ave, Maywood, IL or June 7th and 8th in Lemont at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, 12545 W. 111th St., Lemont, IL. There is a 10 percent discount for Wild Ones members in any chapter. In the discount code area, use MEMSAVE10. There is also a 10 percent discount for Conservation@Home members, use the discount code C@H10. West Cook Wild Ones is partnering with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Conservation @ Home and University of Illinois Extension.

April 1, Monday 
Tickets go on sale for Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Native Plant Ticketed Presale
Shop early and in person for native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees on May 16th, one day before the sale is open to the public. A ticket is required for this event. Only 300 tickets — or 100 tickets per hour starting at 4 pm are available for this exclusive shopping event. Click here to purchase tickets.

April 15, Monday
Last Day to order for Citizens for Conservation Spring Native Plant, Shrub & Tree Sale
Online ordering closes on April 15th or when capacity if full. The sale is one of the largest in the area, offering more than 200 varieties of native plants, including perennials, ferns, sedges, grasses, shrubs and trees. All plants sold are free of neonicotinoid pesticides. This year’s sale will also feature two special garden packages, featuring plants that support pollinators. There is a pre-order minimum charge for online orders; details are on the sale website. Plant selections during the pre-order period may be different than at the in-person sale, as some delicate spring species such as ferns may become available at the sale depending on this year’s growing conditions. Pre-order pickup will be Friday, May 3 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday May 4 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Hill ‘N Dale Preserve located at 11801 Ridge Road, Barrington Hills, Illinois. CFC members will also be able to shop the in-person sale on May 3, and CFC members get a 10% discount all days.

Online ordering for The Conservation Foundation McDonald Farm Annual Plant Sale
Pickup is at McDonald Farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Rd, Naperville on Saturday, May 11th, from 9:00 am to 2 pm. There will also be an in-person sale on this date at McDonald Farm. Native plants, organic veggie and herb starts, rain barrels, organic compost and more will be available.

April 19, Friday
Last day to order for Schaumburg Community Garden Club and Spring Valley Nature Center Native Plant Sale
Pre-order native wildflowers, grasses, perennials, shrubs, trees, composters, and new this year, organic tea towels with native plant designs. Orders are filled according to the time they submitted. You will receive a confirmation notice once your order is placed. Plant order pick up will be on Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg, IL, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

April 26, Friday
Last day to order for Wild Ones Rock River Valley Chapter 2024 Native Plant Sale
Choose from over 70 Illinois native species plus an additional 30 species not available for preorder on the pick-up dates. Use the online portal or mail the paper order form. Members-only pickup is on Thursday, May 9 from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by order pickups and public sales on Friday, May 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pickup location is 4601 Paulson Rd., Caledonia, IL.

April 27, Saturday, 8:30 am – 11 am

May 3, Friday, 3 pm
Online ordering deadline for Friends of Volo Bog Native Shrub & Tree Spring Sale
Order early – supplies are limited. Order Pick-up Saturday, May 11, 2023 10 am-2 pm at Volo Bog State Natural Area, 28478 W. Brandenburg Road, Ingleside, IL, behind the Visitor Center. All proceeds will support educational programs, projects, and events at Volo Bog State Natural Area.

Citizens for Conservation Spring Native Plant, Shrub & Tree In-Person Sale
The sale is one of the largest in the area, offering more than 200 varieties of native plants, including perennials, ferns, sedges, grasses, shrubs and trees. Filters allow you to sort by water need, sun, desired color, companion plants, and desired wildlife or pollinator species that you want to attract. Location for the sale is at Hill ‘N Dale Preserve located at 11801 Ridge Road, Barrington Hills, Illinois.

May 4, Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm
SCARCE Growin’ Green Garden Market
Native plants will be available along with organic vegetable and herb seedlings, compost, rain barrels, workshops, crafts, music, eco-vendors, and gardening books. Location is SCARCE 800 S Rohlwing Rd (IL Rt 53), Addison, IL
About 1/2 mile north of North Ave on the west side of the street.

May 5, Sunday, 12 pm to 3 pm
The Wildlife Preservation & Propagation Committee Native Plant Sale
Over 150 quality, locally grown, native plant species are available including plants for every environment: prairie, savanna, woodland, and wetland. Many of our members are on hand to answer questions and help with getting the right plant in the right environment. Plan on arriving early for the best selection because people start lining up around 11:00 a.m. A little pre-planning is helpful so you know where to go for what you are looking for. Quantities may be limited and due to crop failure, some may not be available. There will also be a book table with an extensive selection of titles on our natural world.

College of DuPage Native Plant Sale
In partnership with the COD Horticulture Spring Plant Sale, the Natural Areas Team will be offering native plant plugs that were grown by students in the Biology greenhouse outside the Health and Science Center (HSC). The proceeds will help fund future projects for restoring our prairie. Location for the sale is TEC Greenhouse, 425 Fawell Rd., Glen Ellyn. The Conservation Foundation McDonald Farm Annual Plant Sale
Many varieties of native plants, organic veggie and herb starts, rain barrels, organic compost and more will be available at the in-person sale along with tours of the farm. Details coming soon!

Lake County Forest Preserves In-Person Native Plant Sale
Choose from a variety of plant species including native flowers, ferns, forbs and grasses. As you shop, learn about eco-friendly practices to benefit your home, wallet and community. Experts will be available at the sale to answer questions. Inventory is limited and first-come, first-serve. The best plant selection will be on Saturday. Plants are not restocked overnight. We encourage shoppers to bring boxes to transport plants home. Plants are provided by Possibility Place Nursery. Plant prices vary. Location for the sale is North Bay Pavilion at Independence Grove, 16400 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048. Admission to Independence Grove is free for all Native Plant Sale customers.

Shop in person for native flowers, grasses, shrubs and trees at Mayslake Peabody Estate at 1717 W. 31st Street in Oak Brook. There will be 159 species to choose from and 30% more inventory than previous sales. On-site plant experts will be available to answer questions and make planting recommendations. Cash, credit, and checks accepted. Bring boxes and wagons to transport your purchase. Click here for a list of plants that may be available at the sale. Wild Ones Greater Kane County Chapter Public Plant Sale
There will be a wide selection of native plants to buy — plus the opportunity to ask questions and get advice. Click here for the list of plants that are expected to be available. Sale will be at Gray Willows Farm in Campton Township, 5 Corron Rd, Campton Hills, IL, 60175.
