Tips for Native Plant Sales – Pre-order if possible or arrive before scheduled time for best selection. Look up information on specific native plants and locate plant pictures at the Illinois Wildflowers website. Visit our Easy to Grow Native Plants page for suggestions on what to plant if you are just getting started with native plants. True native species have two names only. Cultivars have a third name inside apostrophes.

Online ordering for Schaumburg Park District and Schaumburg Community Garden Club Plant Sale
We offer native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees on our website. Most of the prairie plants are provided as small 2.5″ plugs 2 -3 years old with a fully developed root system in a 5” deep soil mass. Most woodland arrive in 3 – 4-½” pots. All trees and shrubs come as 5-gallon potted plants. Pick up days are slated for both Saturday, May 20th and Sunday, May 21st. Just like last year, pick up time will be within 2-hour window based on your last name but we will work with you if you can’t make it within the designated time slot. Focus is to stagger folks coming to pick up plants. All tasks dealing with pick up will be outdoors. Wearing of masks will be based on CDC mandates at the time. 6 feet social distancing will be highly monitored by our volunteers. Plant pickup is Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Online ordering begins March 1st and closes on April 16th or when capacity if full. Pick-up dates for on-line orders will be May 5th and 6th at Hill ‘N Dale Preserve located at 11801 Ridge Road, Barrington Hills, Illinois. There will be an in-person sale for members on May 5th and the public in-person sale will be on May 6th and May 7th at Hill ‘N Dale Preserve.

Online ordering for The Nature Foundation of Will County Bringing Nature Home Native Plant Sale
This year’s spring sale features over 100 species of flowering plants including a selection of spring ephemerals as well as sedges, grasses and, new for this year, ferns! There is also a selection of native trees and shrubs that will be available for the online sale. Orders placed online must be picked up on Saturday, May 20 or Sunday, May 21 at the Isle a la Cache Preserve, 501 E. Romeo Road (135th Street) in Romeoville. There will also be an in-person “pop-up” sale on the pickup days. Last day to pre-order for Wild Ones Rock River Valley Chapter Native Plant Sale
Choose from over 55 carefully selected native plant species for rain gardens, butterfly gardens, pollinator gardens, and to attract insects and birds. The plant sale brochure includes information that will help you select plants for your gardening needs. Members-only pickup is on Thursday, May 11 from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by order pickups and public sales on Friday, May 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Knowledgeable volunteers will be available on pickup days to assist you with your purchases and if you have questions. This year over 35 plant species will be offered that are not on the brochure and will be available at the public sale dates only. The pickup location is 4601 Paulson Rd. (same as Paladin Parkway), Caledonia IL, just off East Riverside Boulevard and I-90 on the east side of Rockford, IL. A map will be in the native plant sale brochure.

Online ordering for The Conservation Foundation McDonald Farm Annual Plant Sale
Online ordering of kits begins on May 4th for the members of The Conservation Foundation. Online ordering of kits is open to the public beginning May 5th through May 7th. Pickup is at McDonald Farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Rd, Naperville on Friday, May 12nd from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:30 am to 1 pm. There will also be an in-person sale on these days at McDonald Farm. Native plants, organic veggie and herb starts, rain barrels, organic compost and more will be available at the in-person sale along with tours of the farm. Citizens for Conservation Spring Native Plant, Shrub & Tree In-Person Sale
24,000 native forbs, grasses, trees, and shrubs have been ordered for the in-person sale. The Citizens for Conservation online native plant database provides details on hundreds of native plants. It also has a great filtering capability: in addition to common filters such as sun and water, you can also filter by color; by tolerance to deer, rabbit, or black walnut; and by species that you want to attract, such as hummingbirds, butterflies, beetles and bees. And if you’re buying a tree or a shrub, you can learn forbs, grasses, sedges, and ferns grow well with your selection. Location for the sale is at Hill ‘N Dale Preserve located at 11801 Ridge Road, Barrington Hills, Illinois.

The Wildlife Preservation & Propagation Committee Native Plant Sale
Over 150 quality, locally grown, native plant species are available including plants for every environment: prairie, savanna, woodland, and wetland. Many of our members are on hand to answer questions and help with getting the right plant in the right environment. Plan on arriving early for the best selection because people start lining up around 11:00 a.m. A little pre-planning is helpful so you know where to go for what you are looking for. Quantities may be limited and due to crop failure, some may not be available. There will also be a book table with an extensive selection of titles on our natural world.

Find the perfect native tree or shrub for your space. Pick up is Friday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. James Farm in Warrenville. Plants must be ordered in advance; there will not be any in-person sales at the farm. Orders will be filled in the order they’re received while supplies last based on supplier availability. Stop by Hummingbird Fest for a mini native plant pop-up sale. It’s a small but mighty selection of hummingbird favorites including wild columbine, cardinal flower, purple coneflower and more! Supplies are limited. “Buy More – Save More” pricing is available if you purchase larger quantities: tray of 15 plants for $40, 25 plants for $65 and 50 plants for $120, any combination.
