| Archive

Join Benjamin Vogt from Monarch Gardens weekly starting on Thursday 2/16 at 1pm cst (webinars will be recorded) for a three-part series on converting from lawn to meadow landscapes. Each linked webinar can be taken individually or as a discounted whole, and serve as in introduction to some of the most pressing issues suburban gardeners face creating (and advocating for) a sunny or shady natural landscape.

February 16 — Fundamentals of Natural Garden Layers
Discover how to read natural plant communities and what lessons to bring home, how to use layers of succession (seasonal and year by year) to increase ecosystem function and decrease management (like weed control), and explore some of the plant options to fill niches in each layer for max aesthetic appeal and climate resilience.

February 23 — Green Mulching With Sedge Plugs
If you’re tired of wood mulch and pricey gallon pots, this is the class for you. Covering professional strategies on designing with and installing plugs (as well as site prep), we’ll also learn about some adaptable sedge species for shade and sun gardens.

March 2 — When Weed Control Comes
Explore ways to work with neighbors and weed authorities by both tweaking your landscape and studying up on the ordinances — including victorious examples from around the country and tips to work with an HOA. Don’t despair!

*Each webinar will be followed by a generous Q&A session. Recordings will be available for one week after the date of that session.
